Therapeutic Approach

My therapeutic approach is psychodynamic and humanistic while incorporating cognitive behavioral techniques as needed. With each client a unique collaborative relationship is developed to identify specific treatment expectations, needs, and goals.
Therapy focuses on bringing the client’s unresolved issues and conflicts into conscious awareness. The therapeutic process helps clients better understand their thoughts and feelings thus promoting self-knowledge, alleviation of pain, higher self esteem, enhanced relationships, control over life changes, and increased quality of life.
I believe that the interpersonal relationship between therapist and client is an essential catalyst for healing. It is important that the client feels heard and understood as well as challenged. A safe and supportive environment allows for the exploration of issues that can be difficult to address.
